Rocket Smoke

A rocket's smoke as a true volume: it rolls out over the pad and out of the ends of its trench, climbs after the rocket in a column, hangs and drifts in the wind, and is lit by the sun and by the flame. Made in the air of Volumetric Explosions.

A rocket's smoke as a true volume: out of the pad's trench at lift-off, a column behind the climbing rocket, drifting in the wind.

  • Out of the flame: carried down the jet, spreading and rising, lit by the flame and the sun.
  • Down the trench: on a launch pad it rolls out of both ends of the flame trench.
  • A trail that stays: a kilometre and more behind the rocket, leaning with the wind.
  • What burns shows: a solid booster's smoke thick and white, kerosene's grey-brown, hydrogen's a little steam.

For KSP 1.12.x. Needs Keystone and Volumetric Explosions 0.5.0 or later.

Works on: Mac and Windows 11: tried. Linux: not run.
