Your kerbals finally have something to say. Usually it's "are we there yet?"
AICS - KSP Chat Bridge adds an in-game chat window and an AI crew to KSP 1.12. Type what you want in plain English ("take off and fly to the Island Airfield", "land at KSC", "what's my delta-v?") and Sid, your AI pilot, gets it done. A small language model works out what you meant and voices the crew, while regular control code does the actual flying, and a guard keeps any hallucinations away from the controls.
Bob (Science): "WHAT IS GOING ON?!"
Sid (Pilot): "Everyone QUIET. I'm flying."
Bill (Engineering): "I'm gonna have to fix that. I'm gonna have to fix ALL of that."
What it does
- Chat with your ship. Press Alt+K, type, done. Works with a local AI (LM Studio or Ollama) or free cloud APIs (Groq, OpenRouter, Gemini, Hugging Face, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint). Keys go in the in-game Settings.
- Sid, the AI pilot. Plane takeoff and autoland (learns each craft's stall and liftoff speeds), flight to runways, prop planes (RPM, torque, blade pitch, reverse), experimental helicopters with a rotor preflight checklist, and rocket ascent, landing and docking through MechJeb.
- A crew with personalities. Each kerbal gets random likes and dislikes based on their Courage, Stupidity and Badass stats. Some hate flying. Some love dad jokes, especially mid-emergency. Expect panicked intercom chatter, small talk on calm cruises, and "are we there yet?" on long trips. Only the pilot calls MAYDAY.
- Talk to individual kerbals. "Hey Bob, having a good time?" (only kerbals actually on board will answer.)
- AICS panel. Systems and alarm dashboard for planes, rockets, rovers and stations, plus flight plans, settings and status.
- Science watcher. Reminds you about (or automatically runs) experiments when you enter a new biome or situation.
- Language filter. On by default, toggled with
/language filter on|off. Slurs and hate speech are always blocked.
Requirements
- KSP 1.12.x (built on 1.12.5)
- kRPC 0.6.x (required)
- MechJeb2 + kRPC.MechJeb (recommended, for rocket autopilots)
- Python 3.12 and the bridge from the GitHub repo. This zip contains only the in-game plugin.
- Windows (that's the only platform it's been tested on so far)
Install
Unzip into your KSP folder so you get GameData/KSPChatBridge/. Then follow the installation guide to set up the Python bridge and an AI. The Local AI Setup page covers LM Studio and Ollama.

Save before you let Sid fly something new. He's confident. That's not the same as careful.
