Replaces KSP's flat 2D explosion sprite with a 3D explosion, generated fresh for every blast: a white-hot flash that blooms into a billowing orange fireball, burns out pocket by pocket so dark smoke rolls over still-glowing fire, then climbs as a sunlit smoke cloud. No two blasts look the same.
Reactions Atmosphere: in air it billows, rises and smokes. In vacuum it flashes, expands and fades with no smoke column. The sun: the smoke is lit by the real sun. It's bright on the day side, warm at sunset, and lit only by its own fire at night. The ground: a pad blast domes on the surface, throws a ring of dust out along it and grows a stem. Burning debris arcs out trailing smoke. Also included:
Sized to the part: a strut pops, a big tank booms. Merged break-ups: when a vessel comes apart you get one big fireball, not dozens of small ones. Sparks and debris that collide with terrain and the rocket. A procedural explosion sound, synthesised fresh for each blast (no audio files shipped). An in-flight settings window on the toolbar to tune everything live and test blasts. Requirements KSP 1.12.x Harmony 2 Shabby + Module Manager for the volumetric look. Without them you get a particle version of the same explosion. CKAN installs all of these for you.
Install Use CKAN. To install by hand, drop GameData/ProceduralPyrotechnics from the zip into your KSP GameData folder.
Status This is a beta, verified in-game on macOS (OpenGL). The Windows (DirectX 11) shaders are in the bundle but haven't been checked in-game yet. A big blast close to the camera costs some FPS. You can lower raymarchResolutionScale in the settings window if needed.
