Volumetric Explosion FX (VEFX)

More realistic explosions for KSP, with volumetric fireballs, smoke and flying debris.

The effects are purely visual: the mod does not change damage, part behaviour or flight physics.

Installation

Close KSP, extract the ZIP and copy the VolumetricExplosionFX folder into your KSP GameData folder.

When updating, replace the previous mod files. Keep VolumetricExplosionFX/PluginData/settings.cfg if you want to retain your settings.

Compatibility and performance

Tested on Windows with KSP 1.12.5. No other mods are required. macOS and Linux have not been validated for this release.

Quality defaults to Ultra. Large explosions can be demanding, so lower the quality in the settings if needed.

Other explosion mods may produce overlapping effects.
