OPX: JoolPlus CKAN

The first of six installments in the Outer Planets eXpansion project (OPX), OPX-JoolPlus presents a major improvement (at least in my eyes) to the previously unrealistic and oftentimes bland Jool system.

Additions include:

• Brand new set of Saturnian-style textures for Jool, including a thin ring system.

• Meto, an analog for the inner Jovian moon of Metis. Full biome support.

• Alnes, an analog for the inner Jovian moon of Amalthea. Full biome support.

• Klip, an analog for Callisto, with nineteen biomes and a rugged surface perfect for challenging landings and rover expeditions, balanced with a forgiving gravitational pull low enough for easy correction and high enough to stop rovers from going everywhere.

• Jimel, an analog for Himalia and generally all other outer moons of Jupiter, on a highly inclined orbit.

• Molypele and Khaun, analogous to 15094 Polymele and its official-name-lacking moon and orbiting the Sun 60º ahead of Jool in its L4 lagrange point

• Pakran and Manaris, a binary asteroid analogous to Patroclus-Menoetius and Leucus, orbiting in Jool's L5 lagrange point.

• Betazed, a minuscule asteroid with extraordinary science multipliers orbiting in an extremely difficult to reach retrograde orbit near Jool. Analogous to 514107 Kaʻepaokaʻāwela.

• A settings file offering great customizability:

  • Laythe, Vall, Tylo, and Pol optionally shrunk (except Pol) and moved outwards for stability and realism purposes. Orbit and size modifications are attached to separate settings.
    • Pol orbits much more distantly, corresponding to the Jovian outer moon of Themisto. Jool looks tiny from this distance, and the inclination gives a birds-eye view of the entire system.
  • Bop is now a trojan companion of Klip, saving it from the unending limbo of only being visited if someone needs to say they visited every moon of Jool, but can alternatively be moved into the outer moon system near Jimel.
  • A large set of optional outer moon destinations to visit.
