Volumetric Explosions 0.5.0
for Kerbal Space Program 1.12.x

The game's explosions as a simulation of fire, smoke and dust, drawn as a true volume.
It needs no other mod.

INSTALL
Copy the folder VolumetricExplosions from this download into your KSP's
GameData folder, and start the game. To remove the mod, delete that folder.

ON A MAC, ONE MORE STEP (if a browser downloaded this)
The mod has a small library of its own that does its heaviest sums. macOS marks
everything a browser downloads and will not let a game load a marked library, so the
mod leaves it alone and does those sums the slow way: the picture is the same, the
frame rate while there is smoke about is lower. To have the library used, take the
mark off that one file, in Terminal:

    xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "<your KSP folder>/GameData/VolumetricExplosions/PluginData/vfxgrid.dylib"

Only do this for a copy of the mod you trust: that mark is how macOS knows a file
  came from the internet.

WHERE IT WORKS
Made on a Mac, and tried on Windows 11 on the game's own Direct3D 11: the smoke is
drawn as a volume there too. On Linux it should work as on the Mac; nobody has run
it there. (On Windows and Linux the mod does its heaviest sums with its own code:
the small library that does them faster is in this download for the Mac only.)

SETTINGS
  GameData/VolumetricExplosions/PluginData/settings.cfg
(Until 0.3.1 it was beside the library, where every change to it made the game's next
start a slow one. A file found there is moved, with what you had set in it.)
