Warm Start 0.5.0
for Kerbal Space Program 1.12.x

The game starts in less than half the time, because what it works out afresh at every start
is kept from the last one: the expansions' big files unpacked, the PNG pictures made into
textures, what the game reads out of its small bundles, and (from 0.3.0) the parts' drag
cubes, which ModuleManager makes the game work out again after every change to the mods.
And (from 0.5.0) the game's models are read one after another, where the game waits a frame
after each: the main menu about a second sooner.

INSTALL
This mod needs Keystone, the base it stands on, which is a separate download:
    https://spacedock.info/mod/4665/Keystone
Copy Keystone's folder (Keystone) into your KSP's GameData folder, and the WarmStart
folder from this download beside it, and start the game. Without Keystone the game does
not load this mod. One copy of Keystone serves every mod that uses it. To remove this
  mod, delete the WarmStart folder.

THE FIRST START
The first start is as slow as ever, and at its main menu some twenty seconds of work go on in the
background (a line at the foot of the screen says so). From the second start on it is fast.

WHAT IT COSTS
About a gigabyte of disk, in GameData/WarmStart/PluginData. No memory: the game uses less
  with it than without.

USE
There is nothing to do. Its settings, and how long the last starts took, are in the
Keystone window: the keystone button on the game's toolbar, or Option-K on a Mac and Alt-K
elsewhere. Then turn to Warm Start.

WITH THE HARMONY MOD (not needed)
Where the Harmony mod (HarmonyKSP) is installed, the game's look-ups of models, pictures,
sounds and parts' records go by a table instead of a walk through every one: about a tenth
off a start with thousands of parts, nothing that shows with the game alone. And (from
0.4.0) each part's icon is made without copying and waking all that the game throws away:
0.71 s of icons came down to 0.44 s with the game's own 474 parts, more with more parts.
From 0.5.0, while the game loads, the localiser's answers are kept, and the game's asks
whether a flight is going on (three for every part, each a search through everything
loaded) are answered at once: 37 s of parts came down to 14 s on a made-up install of
4,755 parts. These four are the only parts of this mod that change the game's code; each
checks itself against the game's own way and stands aside where they differ; each has a
switch. Without Harmony none of the game's code is changed.

WITH KSP COMMUNITY FIXES
That mod loads the game its own, faster way. Where it is installed Warm Start leaves the
loading to it, and (from 0.5.0) keeps only the parts' drag cubes across changes to the
mods, the one thing of Warm Start's that it does not do.

WHERE IT WORKS
Made and measured on a Mac, and tried on Windows 11 (47 s to the main menu without it
there, 17 to 18.5 s with it). What 0.3.0 and 0.4.0 add (the drag cubes kept, the look-ups
by table, the icons) ran on Windows too, 21 s to the main menu; what 0.5.0 adds has been
run on the Mac only so far. Nobody has run it on Linux yet.
