Fragmentation 0.3.0
for Kerbal Space Program 1.12.x

Crashes as they are: what hits the ground is torn where it hits, its own skin crushed and
ripped open, not taken apart where its parts are joined. One that comes in at a slant digs
into soft ground, its underside torn away within metres; torn open, it scoops up the earth
and stops within tens of metres, its torn tanks leaking and going up, its fire and smoke going
with it. It leaves a scar of torn earth, craters, and real pieces of itself: torn panels,
rings and stringers, engines, shreds, rivets, clods and slabs of turf, every piece trailing a
little smoke. Parts from other mods are torn as the game's own are.
From 0.3.0: crashes heard, the ground as the world has it (snow, sand, ice, rock, dust),
fuel that stains the ground and burns as a pool, strikes on the sea, and wrecks kept in
the save.

INSTALL
This mod needs Keystone 0.9 or later, the base it stands on, which is a separate download:
    https://spacedock.info/mod/4665/Keystone
Copy Keystone's folder (Keystone) into your KSP's GameData folder, and the Fragmentation
folder from this download beside it, and start the game. Without Keystone the game does
not load this mod. Volumetric Explosions is not needed, but with it the explosions are
its fire and smoke, and the leaks, the wreck's fire, the smoke of the pieces and the dust
of a slide go into its air: https://spacedock.info/mod/4669/Volumetric%20Explosions
To remove the mod, delete the Fragmentation folder.

USE
Nothing to do: crash something. The settings (how far a wreck slides, how tough parts are,
how many pieces there may be and for how long, leaks and fires, and switching it off) are
in the Keystone window: the keystone button on the game's toolbar, or Option-K on a Mac
and Alt-K elsewhere. Then turn to Fragmentation.

GOOD TO KNOW
While a craft is close enough to the ground or to another craft to hit it at speed, its
parts' crash tolerance is raised (other mods that show it will show a very large number):
the mod decides itself what a blow does. A craft that touches down within its parts'
tolerances is not hurt, as in the game. A part striking the sea takes a blow from the
water it throws up (broadside nearly as on soil, nose first far less). A torn part
is drawn by this mod in place of the game's own drawing of it while the flight lasts.

WHERE IT WORKS
Made and tried on a Mac, and tried on Windows 11 (0.2.2, with Volumetric Explosions 0.6.3:
rockets let fall by the pad and thrown at a wall); what 0.3.0 adds has been run on the
Mac only so far. It has no shader of its own. The fire and smoke are Volumetric
Explosions', drawn by that mod's shaders (for OpenGL on a Mac or Linux, built for
Direct3D on Windows). Nobody has run it on Linux yet.
